Women at Work · Career milestone
Counsellor Sara bint Ismail Al Shoura began her role as Executive Director of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Women Development Organization on 17 May 2026, according to a UNA report published on 20 May.
Diplomacy as a leadership foundation
The report describes more than two decades of experience in multilateral diplomacy and international cooperation. Her earlier roles included work at Saudi Arabia’s permanent mission in Vienna and as deputy head of mission at its embassy in the United Kingdom. UNA also records her work with UNDP in Saudi Arabia on development programmes.
The career perspective
Our editorial takeaway: skills developed through negotiation, cross-border coordination and institutional partnerships can carry into development leadership. This milestone puts a Saudi professional’s international career in focus.
