Khaled Nabil Salama: developing sensors at the boundary of electronics and biology

Khaled Nabil Salama leads the Sensors Lab at KAUST and is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research explores devices, circuits and systems that can support industrial, environmental and biomedical measurement.
The work behind the profile
He studied at Cairo University and Stanford University, worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and joined KAUST in 2009. He also served as the university’s founding Electrical Engineering program chair and co-founded biomedical imaging company Ultrawave Labs.
His official profile describes research into low-power circuits, integrated sensors and neuromorphic electronics. The career demonstrates the value of combining semiconductor knowledge with an understanding of the application: a measurement becomes useful when the device, signal and wider system are developed together.
