Aramco and Maaden signed a shareholders’ agreement for a minerals exploration joint venture, according to Aramco’s announcement dated 18 August.

Maaden would hold 51% and Aramco 49%. The proposed venture focuses on copper and energy-transition minerals in Zone 4 of the Arabian Platform, covering approximately 182,000 square kilometres.

The partners intend to combine geological capabilities with computing and AI expertise. Establishment remains subject to the required corporate, regulatory and antitrust approvals. The agreement should not be reported as a completed mine, a proven mineral discovery or commercial production already underway.
