Hatem Kameli: Connecting Technical Skills with Business Opportunity

From information technology and digital marketing to entrepreneurship, the Resal co-founder’s journey shows how experience across disciplines can shape a business career.

Hatem Kameli’s career has developed across two closely connected fields: understanding technology and understanding the people who use it.

The Saudi entrepreneur and Resal co-founder studied information technology at King Abdulaziz University before completing an MBA in marketing at Al-Faisal University. That combination brought together technical knowledge and commercial thinking—skills he would apply across corporate roles and entrepreneurial ventures.

His professional background includes work in information technology at Saudi British Bank and Saudia, followed by digital marketing and analytics at Gulf International Bank.

Learning through building

Entrepreneurship also brought setbacks.

In a published 2022 interview with The Buzz Business, Kameli described closing two early online businesses because funding was difficult to secure. He subsequently gained further management experience through corporate work and continued his education.

His ventures have included the digital marketing agency iCLICK and a role as a co-founder of Lucidya, the Saudi technology company focused on customer insights.

Across these businesses, his work has connected digital capabilities with practical commercial needs.

Bringing the experience to Resal

Resal brought another application for that experience: digital gifting, rewards and loyalty solutions for businesses and consumers.

The company’s partnerships have included Mastercard, reflecting its work at the intersection of digital commerce, customer engagement and payment experiences.

Kameli’s journey offers a useful perspective on professional growth. Expertise can develop through movement between disciplines, through corporate responsibilities and through the lessons of building a business.

For professionals considering entrepreneurship, his experience illustrates the value of combining technical ability with marketing knowledge, management experience and a willingness to learn from setbacks.
